This bug works absolutely everywhere, and you don't need to change any files for it.
Players who don't know about the bug may take you for a cheater! If that happens, give them a link to this page.
It's a pretty handy thing. This bug can be used for various purposes. For example, to disguise a weapon, or just to have some fun.
So, to start with, here are a few screenshots to illustrate it.
Here we have a magic crowbar that shoots electric current. A Jedi of sorts =)
The same, but in third person.
Third person from a different angle.
And here the crowbar shoots sparks just like a gauss.
So how do you do it?! You don't need any cheats or special servers for this.
It's all very simple. You can turn any weapon into any other this way, although you won't be able to swing the gauss like a crowbar.
Step 1. Pick the weapon you want to use as the disguise, for example the crowbar.
Step 2. Pick the weapon you want to hide behind our poker, for example the gauss.
Step 3. Start shooting the gauss until you run out of ammo.
Don't release the left mouse button when you run out of ammo. This is very important!
Step 4. Without releasing the attack button, press Q (previous weapon). The weapon will switch to the crowbar and the player will start swinging it like crazy.
Step 5. Still holding the left mouse button, press Q once more. The weapon will switch again, but the crowbar won't disappear from the screen, or there will be no weapon on the screen at all and you will hear dry-fire clicks.
Step 6. The last one Now, still holding the left mouse button, pick up some gauss ammo.
And voilà, we have a magic crowbar that fires gauss beams. Now you can release the attack button and shoot as usual, only a completely different weapon will be shown on the screen.
If it didn't work for you, you most likely messed something up.
Check the following:
- The left mouse button must be held down throughout steps 3-6;
- The Q key (previous weapon) must be pressed 2 times;
- The ammo count of the weapon you want to disguise must be zero! Not more, and certainly not less =)
If it still didn't work, then someone probably has butterfingers
In that case, read everything again and repeat. Few people get it right on the first try.
When switching some weapons (for example shotgun-gauss), no beams may be shown at all, yet damage is still dealt to other players.
On many servers, players who don't know about this are very likely to take you for a cheater. In that case, share this article with them.
The bug gives no advantage in the game. Ammo still runs out. The weapon's power stays the same. Only the weapon model is different.
Screenshots of this bug in use.
