Today we're talking about the most popular maps for Half-Life. The ranking is based on play time and map popularity on various servers (not just ours). The ranking is split into two parts: standard and custom maps. Keep in mind that map popularity can change over time.

Standard Half-Life maps

1st place. Crossfire

Top most popular Half-Life maps

No surprises here, it's all pretty predictable. The most popular standard Half-Life map of all time is crossfire. Everyone knows the bunker you have to hide in. The map has been studied inside out; people even know the tricks for getting into the blue room.

2nd place. Stalkyard

Top most popular Half-Life maps

Second place goes to a small map with crates. A great map for 1on1 duels.

3rd place. Boot Camp

Top most popular Half-Life maps

Bronze goes to Boot Camp, made by Dario Casali. It's a fairly large map, great for clan wars.

4th place. Bounce

Top most popular Half-Life maps

Fourth place rightfully belongs to Bounce. A very spacious map that suits various modes: DeathMatch, Team Deathmatch, Arena and others.

5th place. Gasworks

Top most popular Half-Life maps

Fifth place went to Gasworks, which is missing from early versions of Half-Life (WON). It's one of the biggest standard maps in Half-Life.

6th place. Lambda Bunker

Top most popular Half-Life maps

Like some of the others, this map is a reworked map from one of the chapters of Half-Life single player.

6th place. Datacore

Top most popular Half-Life maps

Sixth place, by a narrow margin, goes to Datacore.

7th place. Rapidcore

Top most popular Half-Life maps

Seventh place went to Rapidcore. The map is similar to Datacore; it's set in some Half-Life lab, probably near the Lambda core.

Custom Half-Life maps

That's it for the standard maps. Now let's talk about maps that don't come with Half-Life by default but are still pretty popular.

1st place. AG Crossfire

Top most popular Half-Life maps

Once again, it's all pretty predictable here. The most popular map is a modification of the standard Crossfire.

2nd place. Killbox USA

Top most popular Half-Life maps

Silver goes to Killbox USA. The map is split into two parts: one is fairly big, the other not so much.

3rd place. Dead-Dust 2

Top most popular Half-Life maps

Bronze goes to De_Dust 2, ported from Counter-Strike.

4th place. StalkX

Top most popular Half-Life maps

StalkX is a modification of the standard Stalkyard map. It's mainly meant for arena.

5th place. 1337 Street

Top most popular Half-Life maps

A small map. It's a street, 1337 Street, with several houses you can get into and climb onto the roofs of. The design isn't top-notch, but the map takes fifth place in our ranking.

6th place. Killbox 2

Top most popular Half-Life maps

The second killbox in our ranking is Killbox 2. The map's design is very weak, but that didn't stop it from becoming popular.

7th place. Cabrito

Top most popular Half-Life maps

Seventh place goes to Cabrito. A fairly large and maze-like map.

8th place. Frenzy-Elite

Top most popular Half-Life maps

A modification of the standard Frenzy map.

9th place. 2000_2

Top most popular Half-Life maps

The last place in our ranking goes to the most secret map of all: 2000_2. The map has several modifications and successors, among them 6000_6v6 and hldm_forever, which didn't make it into our ranking.
