Sven Co-op 5.0 Enters the Final Development Phase
On March 22 the Sven Co-op developers announced that they had reached a new stage of development. They recently stopped adding new features to the game and focused on bugs and other issues that keep the game from living up to the expectations of the developers and players.
According to the announcement on the official website, the developers will publish the latest version of the game right after the release. If anything in the code needs fixing after the release, the developers will make the fix and publish it.
The main work the developers have been focusing on is a complete overhaul of the Half-Life 1 co-op. The co-op for the first Half-Life is supposed to be closer to the original, so that the pace of Sven Co-op does not affect the atmosphere of the game. Many levels have been merged, which will reduce the number of transitions between maps. Weapons and health will also be kept when moving between maps.
A new mode has been added to the game: Survival. In this mode, a player who dies becomes a spectator and can only rejoin the others once the surviving players reach a certain checkpoint. In Survival mode, dead players can still be revived with the defibrillator. As a result, when playing through Half-Life as a group, if all players die, the level has to be replayed from the start, which is closer to the original singleplayer mode.
Survival mode was made with AngelScript, and it can be applied to any map.
The Sven Co-op developers have great news for all mappers, including hldm.org visitors. The developers are ready to help and support mappers who make new maps using AngelScript and Survival mode in their maps. Looking forward to the release of Sven Co-Op 5.0.
