HLDM.org contest


Our community has only just entered its second year, and the number of regular visitors grows every day. We've decided to hold a contest among regulars and newcomers. The main goal of the contest is to attract new players to Half-Life and to our community. Absolutely anyone can take part in the contest.

To take part in the contest you need to:
  • Find a popular site on the internet (gaming sites, forums, blogs, video hosting sites)
  • Post an article or a video there on any Half-Life topic
  • The post must include
    • The review itself, on any Half-Life topic.
    • A link to pages of our site

  • Report back in the comments to this news post or on the forum
  • Your post must include:
    • A link to the site where you posted the review
    • A screenshot of what you posted

The authors of the most interesting reviews will get:
  • Licensed copies of the games:
    • Half-Life
    • Half-Life: Blue Shift
    • Half-Life: Opposing Force
    • Team Fortress Classic
    • or other games from the Half-Life series (of your choice)
  • Their nickname reserved on all our servers
  • A personal page on hldm.org or an @hldm.org mailbox
  • A chance to become an admin (for regular players)


A few short explanations:

The review can be either a regular text one or a video.
You can post your review on YouTube; in that case the video must contain the text "Specially for HLDM.ORG"
The link to our site must be open, visible to everyone, and lead to a page with roughly similar content, or to the home page.
For example, if you're making a review about Half-Life bugs, the link should preferably lead to https://hldm.org/interes/bagi/
The review must be unique.
The review must not be posted temporarily.
The review must have real substance.

Copy-paste from other sites, rewrites, reviews by other participants, videos posted by other users and the like will not be accepted into the contest.

  • Half-Life bugs
  • Secrets of Half-Life maps
  • Information for Half-Life newcomers
  • Funny moments in Half-Life
  • Half-Life walkthrough


You can come up with your own topic; the more interesting and unusual it is, the better your chances of winning.

Don't forget to dig around our site and forum properly - you might find something interesting there.
