Developer's description:
An extended client library for Half-Life. The main goal of the development is to make playing HLDM as comfortable and enjoyable as possible, as far as the rather meager SDK allows (without giving any advantage over opponents, of course). All changes are cosmetic, notification/informational, or aimed at performance.
Starting with version 2.3, the library can update itself. When HL starts and an update is found, the console opens and shows the download progress. Then the game closes, and a batch file finishes the update. All of this takes only 10-40 seconds.
For the doubters: the DLL is safe as long as it's downloaded from the official page (http://ngageclan.ucoz.ru/load/0-0-0-9-13). Wrecking anyone's computer, logging keystrokes, building a botnet: none of that is in my interests. If you still have doubts, don't download it. You won't play any better by installing it anyway.
client.dll CRC32: 97CFAD0B

Command line parameters:
-norcdupdate
> disable the update check (although it doesn't slow down the game, since it runs in a separate thread)
Linux users can now also disable the check using the file valve\cl_dlls\rcdurl.txt: just erase its contents (but keep the file itself, otherwise it will be downloaded from the site again). The file was created for the future, in case the address of the RCD file storage needs to be changed.
-norcdautodownload
> disable only the downloading of updates, keeping the notification
Console variables (with default values):
cf_enabled 1
- enable/disable the chat filter without changing its contents
cf_add "word or phrase"
- add a keyword or phrase to the chat filter. Messages containing them will be completely ignored. For example: cf_add "[HET]Crack". The keyword list is saved on exit
cf_remove "word or phrase or #N"
- remove from the chat filter all keywords or phrases containing the specified word. The #N parameter removes item number N. cf_remove "" clears the chat filter completely
cf_show
- display the numbered contents of the chat filter
cl_autorecord 5
- Automatic demo recording when joining a game. Demos are named in the format "temp_DATE_TIME_MAP.dem". The variable sets the number of demos; when new ones are recorded, the old ones are deleted. Zero disables automatic recording. With a non-numeric value, for example cl_autorecord asdf, the demo asdf will always be recorded.
cl_bhop_mode 2
- Bunnyhop prediction mode:
0 = speed limited to 1.7x (HLDM)
1 = no speed limit (AG)
2 = auto-detection (the mode is detected the first time the 1.7x limit is exceeded, i.e. it will jerk only once and only on a server without bunnyhopping)
cl_bhop_delay 300
- the time interval for auto-detecting bunnyhopping on the server. The value in milliseconds is based on your average ping to your favorite servers multiplied by 3.5. An interval that's too large or too small guarantees wrong detection.
cl_chatlog 2
- Logging of the chat and (optionally) system server messages to valve\chatlog.txt.
0 = off
1 = ignore server messages (for example, Next map is...)
2 = log everything
cl_gauss_balls 1
- Small bouncing balls from gauss hits. Turning them off saves a bit of FPS. The bright shot marks are not turned off.
0 = off
1 = on
cl_gauss_hits 1
- A big glowing sprite from gauss hits. Up close it eats quite a lot of FPS.
0 = off
1 = on
cl_newbob 1
- New weapon bobbing style (1|0)
cl_PredictWeaponchange 1
- Use the client-side weapon switch prediction code (1|0)
cl_remove_dead 0
- Player corpse removal mode:
0 = show
1 = remove only static corpses
2 = remove both corpses and just-killed players who haven't respawned yet
cl_show_eff 1
- show efficiency in the scoreboard
0 = off
1 = show, coloring the values
2 = show without color
cl_show_loss 1
- show packet loss in the scoreboard (after the ping) (1|0)
cl_show_mdl 1
- show player models in the scoreboard:
0 = don't show
1 = show, coloring the name in the top/bottom color (half and half)
2 = show without coloring
cl_show_mdl_s 1.0
- saturation of the model colors in the scoreboard (HSL) (0.0-1.0)
cl_show_mdl_l 0.67
- lightness of the model colors in the scoreboard (HSL). The most saturated colors are at 0.5 (0.0-1.0)
cl_show_mdl_colwid 34
- width of the model column in the scoreboard (not absolute, it scales)
hud_alpha 200
- HUD brightness in the range 0..255.
hud_chatsound 1
- Sound notification mode for chat messages (sound valve\sound\misc\talk.wav):
0 = off
1 = play the sound only for player messages
2 = play the sound for all messages
hud_color auto
- HUD coloring mode:
auto = color elements depending on their value (the mode of the previous version):
0..25hp, 0..20% ammo - red;
26..50hp, 0..50ap, 21..50% ammo - orange;
51..90hp, 51..90ap, 51..90% ammo - yellow;
91..100hp, 91..100ap, 91..100% ammo - green.
"R G B" = a static color for all HUD elements. R, G and B are given in the range 0..255. Quotes are required. For example, "255 160 0" is the standard yellow-orange color of the Half-Life HUD.
"R1 G1 B1 R2 G2 B2" = gradient mode, in which an element is colored in color 1 at 100% of its value and in color 2 as it approaches 0%. Quotes are required here too.
hud_colortext 1
- Colored chat and nicknames (everywhere except the spectator panel and the scoreboard):
0 = off
1 = color depending on the ^n key (n = 0..9). ^1 is red, ^2 is green, etc.
2 = filter out the color keys but don't color the text
hud_health_divider 1
- Show the divider bar after health
0 = off
1 = on
hud_join_leave_sound 1
- Sound notification when players join or leave
0 = off
1 = on
hud_jumpspeed 0
- Speed indicator at the moment of a jump. It flashes green if the speed on the current jump is higher than on the previous one, and red if it's the other way around. Good for grinding circle-jumps.
0 = off
1 = on
2 = on, but doesn't flash.
hud_jumplength 0
- Indicator of the last jump's distance. It flashes green if the last jump was longer than the previous one, and red if it's the other way around. Handy on KZ and training maps.
0 = off
1 = on
2 = on, but doesn't flash.
hud_lists_glide 1
- Smooth sliding of the chat and death log (kill log) lines.
0 = off
1 = on
hud_markme 0
- Highlight your own nickname in color in the chat and the kill log (1|0)
hud_oldchat 0
- Sets the chat style
0 = A style close to Source
1 = HL1 style
hud_oldchatinput 0
- Sets the chat input method to the one in regular HL (at the top, without a cursor or Cyrillic)
0 = the new input introduced in RCD 2.2
1 = the old input
Next come the commands for fine-tuning the position of HUD elements. The value auto means the default position. A value in the format "X Y" sets the absolute position on the screen, in pixels. A negative value means it's measured from the opposite edge of the screen. An example of a complete HUD skin is given below.
hud_pos_health auto
hud_pos_suit auto
hud_pos_flashlight auto
hud_pos_ammo auto
hud_pos_chat auto
hud_pos_deathlog auto
hud_pos_speedo auto
hud_pos_jmpspd auto
hud_pos_jmplen auto
hud_pos_ammobg auto (new optional sprite rcd_ammo_bg, check out the skin below)
hud_pos_weapon (the weapon sprite when hud_weapon is on)
hud_pos_statusbar
The following commands use the same format, but they change the offset of the elements' text (digits) relative to their original position.
The default value is "auto" or "0 0"
hud_shift_ammo auto
hud_shift_health auto
hud_shift_suit auto
hud_shift_speedo auto
hud_shift_jmpspd auto
hud_shift_jmplen auto
hud_pos_items_left 0
- Show picked-up items on the left or on the right.
0 = on the right
1 = on the left
hud_spec_bars 0
- Show black bars at the top and bottom of the screen in spectator mode.
0 = don't show
1 = show
hud_spec_enter_notify 1
- Chat notification when someone goes to spectators (1|0)
hud_speedo 1
- Show the speedometer. It shows horizontal movement speed. Works in demos and in spectator mode.
0 = off
1 = on
hud_speedo_require_suit 1
- require the suit for the speedometers to be shown (turning this off can come in handy for speedruns). Besides, the game is designed so that the suit "switches off" when you die.
0 = speed is always visible
1 = speed is visible only when the player has the suit and is alive
hud_timer 1
- Show the time left until the map change. The request goes through the chat; the timer value is taken from the server's reply to timeleft with an accuracy of +- 1 sec. The server must run AMX and have a non-zero timelimit.
0 = off
1 = show the timer and automatically send a request (say timeleft) when joining a server. In standard DM, players won't see the automatic request, since the command looks like this: "say_team timeleft;say timeleft". The timer is corrected every time the server replies to such a request, manual or automatic. For example, after prolonged lag the timer may drift noticeably from the server's, and a repeated request will correct it.
2 = same as the first mode, but without the automatic request (it still reacts to the server's reply to the timeleft command)
hud_timer_pre_timeleft 3600
- The interval before the automatic request with hud_timer 1. For some reason, the auto-request doesn't work with values that are too low. It differs from server to server. With 3600 the request happens after 0.1 - 1 second.
hud_weapon 0
- Show the weapon sprite in the HUD (helps with r_drawviewmodel 0)
0 = off
1 = show
2 = show, but don't gray out the sprite while reloading
jpeg_divider "."
- The separator between the numbers in the date ($d) and the time ($t). Exactly one character. To disable the separator, set "". The following characters can't be used (they're reserved by the system): \ / : * ? \" |
jpeg_format "screenshots/$m/$d-$t"
- The screenshot naming format. Subfolders can be used. Variable keys:
$m :: insert the map name
$d :: date (required key)
$t :: time (required key)
The last two variables are required to avoid saving screenshots with identical names, since there's no check whether the file already exists. Absolute paths are allowed. Here are some more examples:
"MyScreens/Shot_$m_$d_$t"
"c:/somefolder/somesubfolder/$d$t"
The following characters are forbidden: \ * ? \" |
jpeg_quality 90
- Screenshot quality in the range 0-100. Affects the file size. Screenshots at quality 0 reminded me of wolf3d and some games from the early 90s.
Console commands:
_toggle {cvar} [val1] [val2] [valN]
- Toggles cvar values. If only the cvar is given, it toggles between 1 and 0. Otherwise you can give as many values as you like. Examples:
_toggle r_drawviewmodel
_toggle volume 0 0.333 0.666 1
_toggle name Vasya unnamed SuperMegaPlayer
autorecord
- Start recording a demo in the same format as with cl_autorecord and add it to the list of autodemos (useful if automatic recording was interrupted).
FixFontsInScoreTable
- If the fonts in the scoreboard look broken at a non-standard resolution (usually widescreen), this command will help fix that. It only needs to be run once. It restarts HL.
joinlast
- Join the last server you visited. Handy as a main menu item (will be in the new version of NGHL)
jpeg
- Take a screenshot in jpg format. It's saved according to jpeg_format and jpeg_divider. The quality is set by jpeg_quality. Since processing runs in a separate thread, you can't take a new screenshot during that time (but visually you won't notice it at all, unlike with snapshot). On my computer I can take up to 4-5 screenshots per second, which should be enough. Subsampling is disabled, so sharp lines don't get blurred and the palette isn't spoiled.
resetbh
- Resets an incorrectly detected bhop.
ShowLastDemos
- Show the list of the latest autodemos.
rcd_about
- Show the DLL version and the list of the latest new features.
Installation:
Extract the contents of the archive into HL\valve\. For Steam, set "read-only" on "cl_dlls\client.dll".

hud_weapon 1 и r_drawviewmodel 1 не работают
Ваша сборка очень удобна, хотелось бы играть на стим версии, но при включении стимовской с вашей длл, она просто бесконечно перезапускается в поисках какого-то файла.
